Overview
At Womankind Kenya, we safeguard children’s rights and foster environments where they can grow, learn, and thrive. Our work focuses on child protection, inclusion, and access to quality education, with a special emphasis on the needs of children in marginalized communities.
Child Protection
We are committed to protecting children from abuse, neglect, and harmful practices, such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and child marriage. Our efforts include:
Raising awareness through community dialogues and campaigns to eliminate retrogressive cultural practices.
Working with local authorities to strengthen child protection systems and ensure swift responses to cases of abuse.
Promoting access to health services, including maternal and child health, to address the unique needs of vulnerable children, especially girls.
Inclusion
We champion the rights of all children, particularly those with disabilities, to participate fully in education and community life. By addressing social and cultural barriers, we create opportunities for marginalized children to access resources and build their potential.
Education
Education is a key pillar of our child protection work. We:
Provide scholarships and learning materials to increase access to quality education, particularly for girls.
Support schools with infrastructure improvements to create safe, inclusive, and child-friendly learning environments.
Integrate life skills training into educational programs, empowering children to become resilient and proactive in shaping their futures.
